ROTARY PROVIDES GRANT TO HELP TURTLE TRACKERS

Team BITTs recently received a grant from Bribie Island Rotary and Rotary District 9620 to support their efforts.

Rotary’s grant is proving significant assistance particularly with maintenance and upkeep of Team BITTs e-bikes used daily to monitor Bribie Island beaches including the National Park foreshore.

Beach riding takes a toll on bikes with maintenance and upkeep bring a major cost.

In addition, Rotary’s grant was used for an e-bike trailer ensuring the trackers can safely carry their equipment..

The season has been very busy for Team BITTs volunteers with greater demands placed on the team to protect nests from predators and beach drivers.

All support including Rotary’s grant assists Team BITTs volunteers to continue the essential work in an environmentally sustainable manner along Bribie Island foreshore beaches including the sensitive National Park areas
